Shibari Perth’s Rope Classes
Shibari 101
Are you curious about Shibari rope but not sure where to start? Our beginner friendly classes are designed to help you explore rope safely and confidently, while building skills step by step.
Whether you’re completely new or looking to refresh the basics, this is a relaxed and welcoming environment to learn, practise, and connect.
This class introduces you to the foundations of Shibari, covering:
Essential knots and ties, the building blocks for all rope work
Simple structural ties which leads into a 2-rope Takate Kote (“TK”)
Safety, consent, and communication practices
Risk profiles and responsible play
Basic language and etiquette so you feel confident in any rope space
If you don’t yet own rope, we have some available for you to borrow for the class.
Beginners classes are run every second
Wednesday night 6:30pm - 10:00pm
and every
Sunday morning 10am -12 noon
Rope Jams and Jute Fix!!
Whether you're completely new to rope, an experienced rigger, or a dedicated rope model everyone is welcome at our Rope Dojo nights.
This is your chance to step into a relaxed, inclusive, and supportive space where you can explore, learn, and connect. Our dojo is purpose built for rope and designed with community safety, and creativity in mind.
Expect a friendly atmosphere where people of all experience levels come together to:
Practise and refine their Shibari skills
Share tips, techniques, and knowledge
Learn through doing, observing, and asking questions
Enjoy the energy and flow of rope in a safe and respectful setting
We love seeing connections grow, confidence build, and creativity flow on the mat. Whether you're working on a particular tie, starting your rope journey, or just want to be surrounded by the vibe of rope and community, you're in the right place.
And don’t worry if you can’t make it every week night our Rope Jams run regularly and on Saturdays and Sundays too, So there’s always another chance to join us.
The Next Steps
Shibari 102
This class is the follow on from our Beginners Class and now runs fortnightly on Saturday mornings.
In our Beginners class you will have covered the introductions, talked about safety, learned some fundamental knots, and then tried a few simple ties, now it’s time to progress. This is a hands on, practical class designed to build confidence and expand your skills.
For those joining you will need to know how to do a 2 rope TK and basic coloum ties.
What to Expect
Revision of the 2 rope Takate Kote (TK)
Progressing to the 3 rope Takate Kote (TK) and exploring small variations
Hands on teaching with guidance from experienced instructors
Time to practise and develop confidence with your new skills
A safe, respectful learning space for all attendees
And free entry to the Saturday afternoon rope jam.
